GYNECOLOGICAL PROCEDURES

Cool Springs OBGYN offers a wide range of gynecological procedures from our board-certified women’s health doctors. We can answer your questions about each procedure and the health benefits or risks unique to you during a one on one appointment.

MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY

LAPAROSCOPY

Laparoscopy, also called minimally invasive surgery or laser surgery, is a commonly performed gynecological procedure to diagnose and treat many abdominal and pelvic conditions.

One example, Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy, is a procedure that the majority of women in need of a hysterectomy are candidates for. There are no large incisions to heal from and recovery time is much shorter and less painful than traditional open procedures with larger incisions. Recovery time is minimized by at least  3-4 weeks compared to traditional abdominal hysterectomies.

OTHER GYNECOLOGICAL PROCEDURES WE OFFER

NOVASURE ENDOMETRIAL ABLATION

This procedure is used to treat abnormally heavy bleeding. Endometrial ablation is done in office and takes about 10 minutes. Your uterus stays intact and there are no incisions. This procedure is recommended for women who are finished childbearing.

ESSURE TUBAL STERILIZATION

Tubal sterilization is an incision-free form of permanent birth control. After this procedure, eggs cannot move from the ovary through the fallopian tube and eventually into the uterus. Also, sperm cannot reach the egg in the fallopian tube after it is released by the ovary. Thus, pregnancy is prevented. This procedure is easily performed in the office with minimal or no pain.

MIRENA IUD

Mirena is a hormone-releasing device inserted in the uterus to prevent pregnancy for up to 5 years, and can be easily removed if pregnancy is desired. Mirena also treats heavy periods in women who choose intrauterine contraception. There are other IUD options available and we can counsel you on the correct one to choose.
